Facts: S and A are cousins from Honduras who were each abandoned by their fathers when they were very young. S has never known her father. Her mother came to the U.S. five years to escape domestic violence and S lived with her grandparents and aunt for a time. She decided to come to the U.S. to reunite with her mother, who she missed very much. A's father was also absent. A knows who his father is, but only by sight. He has never spoken to his father and his father never supported him. S and A attended the same school in Honduras and lived in the same household. The cousins decided to come to the U.S. to live with S's mother, who is the guardian for both of them. S and A currently reside with S's mother and other family members where they lead safe, happy, and protected lives.
Legal Assessment : S and A are in removal proceedings and are eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), a visa for children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected by a parent. This status will allow them to remain in the U.S. with their family. S and A need a volunteer attorney like you to fight their case before the local family court and the Immigration Court.
S and A are Spanish-speaking clients.
